Happy First Day of Autumn!
The fall equinox doesn’t bring much of a weather change where we live now. We were outside at 6 am waiting for the bus. It was 80° and super humid! The weather man says the heat index is expected to be in the high 90’s for weeks. I do see the leaves beginning to change on the trees that aren’t forever green here, which is far and few between but still a lovely sight. The leaves aren’t the only things that are changing around here…
Tomorrow will be our first trip of the school year back to California. Our first of many. This trip will be a different one. One where we support our family. Lift each other up in our time of need and just be there. I am looking forward to having my family in my arms.
Levi brought home an English paper yesterday and I could not believe the content or the legibility of it! I was flabbergasted at how well his handwriting looked! Especially after I warned the teacher that it was going to be very rough to read. Then he pulled that out of his bag of tricks! It may be the start of a good school year after all. Now if he could just bring up his math grade we would be doing fantastic!
I am a woman of change. Not really. I enjoy routine. But I like my hair to be different and for the past year and a half I have had the most “normal” hair ever. Right before we moved to Texas I had it cut very short again. It was finally growing from when I had cut it before and was passed my shoulders and I decided to do an A-Line Pixie cut. It was super short. Shaved on the sides and brown. Before that I had purple, pink, blue and purple, red and brown and bleached hair. I only had some highlights put in here to hide my grey hair and have been letting my hair grow for a year with only 1 trim. I finally changed it up! I couldn’t take it any longer and had to get back to MY normal! The red is very bright. Like Ariel red! I love it!
We have milkweed planted in our front flower beds and have been watching the metamorphosis process of the caterpillars! From egg, to caterpillar and now in their Chrysalis! We can’t wait for them to emerge and see the beautiful Monarch Butterflies!
Delylah has been sick for almost a week. At first I thought it was because of school and sick kids but after hearing news reports of allergies being worse than ever because of the hurricane, I believe it’s allergies. The plus to this is that it hasn’t been as bad as it was prior to her surgery. It used to always involve fevers, no sinus drainage at all and sleepless nights. Now her sinuses drain so well that she is constantly wiping her nose. So much so that it is scabbed up. No fever at all. Not even slightly and she has been able to sleep and breath! The change in her has been a great one!
The first day of Autumn brings change. They may not be noticeable. They may not happen right away. They may not all be good. The only way to face change is to embrace it.
