“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“To talk of many things:
Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
And whether pigs have wings.”
“But wait a bit,” the Oysters cried,
“Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!”
“No hurry!” said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.
Now it’s my turn to be thankful. It Is Thankful Thursday!
Yes, that was an odd way to start the post but I could not for the life of me get that poem out of my head this morning. Now hopefully it will stop repeating itself in my brain!
The first 2 weeks of school have flown by! I am Thankful that Levi hasn’t complained about school (very much) and that both kids have been coming home super happy everyday! Not to mention, they have been getting up at the butt crack of dawn to catch the bus and have had great attitudes every morning! The school year has been started off right!
I am thankful to have the opportunity to continue to be a stay at home mom. While it isn’t for everyone, it is what I love. Making sure my kids and husband have a clean house. Meals made and someone who can make it to events at school or otherwise that the kids notify me about the night before. I do like to live a little more old-fashioned. I take care of the house and the kids, Travis works. I like it that way and am extremely thankful that it is how we can live.
Routine. This sounds ridiculous. Even as I am saying it in my head. But I am thankful for a routine. Especially on school nights. It’s rough with the kids not getting home until after 4pm but it’s do-able. Dinner by 5ish. Showers before 6 and bedtime by 8. Weekends are the exception. It’s break time for all of us. That routine is our glue for the week and the only way we can handle those 5am wake ups!
I am thankful for the knowledge that is constantly being thrown my way and forever imbedded into my brain. Whether it be academically, philosophically or just random tid bits about life. It enhances my vocabulary and expands my positivity.
My kids like 80’s movies. I love 80’s movies so for me this a huge plus. I can watch movies again and again. We watched Solarbabies (If you have never seen it, you should check it out) last night and the kids loved it! I am thankful that we can share in what they like but they can also see what we watched when we were kids. And they enjoy it!
Friendships. Old and New. I have the best of friends. Probably because I am very selective with who I let into my life but for whatever reason, I have been lucky enough to find a hand full of people who I can call mine! I write letters to my friends back home. I go visit often and we text and chat on the phone when it’s possible for us to do so. I have made a few good friends here and have an adult to talk to when Travis is gone and I may or may not be on the verge of losing my shit… People to help me with my kids when I need it and vise-versa. I am Thankful to have my people in my life!
Being thankful doesn’t always come easy. It might take some brain storming. I’ve been sitting in front of the computer typing this for at least an hour, thinking of what I am really thankful for at THIS moment.
I challenge you to come up with at least one thing you are thankful for and why…Write it down. Post it in the comments. Tell someone.
Happy Thursday My Friends
