Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Sunday should be reserved for relaxation. I don’t think our Sunday’s have ever been reserved for such a thing.

We stayed up late last night watching the storm. Amazing lightning shows and loud crashing thunder for hours! The storms usually happen during the day but since it was at night and so close to the house we were able to see the lightning that looked as if it was only a few blocks away. The kids were a little worried lightning was going to hit our house. Watching Goosebumps during the storm probably didn’t help. At the end of the night when it was bed time, the kids weren’t scared and enjoyed every minute of it.

We were all able to sleep in today! That is the best feeling ever! Only when I woke I found broken glass from the cats and blood all over the kitchen floor. I can not figure out which cat got the cut but they are just fine now. The glass that was broken happened to be Delylah’s special glass. Consoling and cuddling her only took a few moments. Then it was straight to cleaning up. What a great way to begin our Sunday morning!

Then we began watching a bit of the remembrance of 9/11 and sharing with the kids where I was when it happened and how I felt. Delylah doesn’t quite understand the magnitude of such an event but Levi understands and asks a lot of political questions. It was my senior year in high school. I was getting ready for school when the attack was broadcast on every channel. Upon arriving at school you could see the devastation in the teachers faces as well as some of the students. There was no actual lesson plans happening that day. We watched the attacks and news reports all day in every class. It is a day that I will never forget. I am grateful I was old enough to understand it then and that I can share the impact it has had on our country with my kids.

Today is a day of replenishing our cupboards to get ready for the week ahead. Cleaning the pool and getting in a good swim before nightfall. Cutting down more shrubs and preparing the earth for new growth. Washing all of the soiled laundry so everyone has some clean knickers for the upcoming week. As much as I would like our Sundays to be for relaxing, I don’t think I could even if I had nothing to do!

Enjoy your Sunday. Remembering. Relaxing. Staying Busy. Whatever it is you choose to fill your day with!

Happy Sunday My Friends
