Feeling like this week with Travis is just flying right by. The week without him dragged on and on. Now he leaves in 2 days for work. Apparently we need to stop having fun so that time slows down. Of course that can’t happen. I am allowed to do things now and have plans to do so. Finishing up the guest room. Going hiking in the forest. Swimming with my beasties and seeing just how much I can fit in a back pack for travelling!
Did you know that in Texas, if you are married, you can not get a license without your marriage license? Ya, neither did we. We drove all the way there yesterday with all the other documents except for that one. It doesn’t say on the website that you need that. We didn’t go back. Our new dishwasher was being delivered and we were over it. We will be doing that all again on Monday! With our marriage license.
Did you also know that in Texas you do not get your license and registration at the same place? Un-like California where your car must pass an emissions test, here your car just has to pass an “inspection.” As in, all lights are in working condition. It isn’t leaking obscene amounts of fluids. The windshield isn’t cracked. You can not do this until it is insured here though. Once it passes you take it to a different office and pay a fee for changing title and registration. Then your registration is never the outrageous $234.00 every year like in California. It is a mere $70. Once your vehicle is registered and you can get your license changed, at a different office. It is quite the process.
They don’t sell liquor at grocery stores. Only beer and wine. On Sundays you can not buy Liquor at all. All the liquor stores are closed. Make sure you stock up!
These are just a few tid bits we have learned so far about our new home state. I’m sure there is a lot more in store for us!
Happy Saturday My Friends
