In the middle of our vacation we made a stop for my Family Reunion in Gardnerville Nevada. The last reunion on this side of the family was when I was 13 and in Tahoe. Still super fun but soo long ago and not quite as big this one.
We got in on Friday, checked into our hotel which happened to be one of the oldest hotels in Gardnerville. It didn’t have a pool and was outdated all over but still nice. Then headed over to the reunion. It was so nice to see the family and meet family that I have never met. My Great Aunt Janice made a very detailed family tree and had it hanging for everyone to see. It was quite a sight and very interesting to see all the family history.
Saturday was the big day with all the activities planned out. Poker, Blackjack, board games, arts and crafts, relay games and the big clue murder mystery at the end of the night which might I add that my group won! Something about the family you might not know…everyone cheats when they play games. So you better play dirty if you play with them. Playing black jack with Grandpa as the dealer, I lost. Playing Tic with my cousins, I lost. Playing in the relay games I just started pushing people but I still lost. So playing the clue mystery I had an advantage. I knew a little more or at least paid more attention than anyone else and we WON!!!!!
Sunday was a day of just hanging out and saying good byes. exchanging numbers and relaxing. Of course I only relaxed for a bit then ended my night drinking the night away with my cousin. Fun Times! A little too much fun for me. Waking up Monday and having to continue our vacation was rough! But all so worth it!
The whole weekend was full of laughter, making new friends that are family, learning new things, playing music, spending quality time with the elders and lots of hangovers!
I can’t wait for the next family reunion. Hopefully sooner the last 2 were spread out!
