Being Fathers Day, Let’s talk about all the things that make dads awesome. While they do some things from my post yesterday Reasons Moms Are Badass, they also have all of their own little quirks about them.
No dad tells the same jokes. But when they do tell jokes they are ridiculously stupid and make you laugh no matter the content. It’s like they master the dumb joke!
They create their own life hacks. So they can mow the lawn and drink a beer at the same time, they create a beer holder on the lawn mower.
If they have a daughter, they let her paint their toes, do their hair and put on make up. I secretly think they enjoy the attention and the glamour!
They are the best at giving piggy back rides. No mom can give the same kind of piggy back ride as a dad. (Sorry ladies, we aren’t that cool!)
They are the best dance partners. Whether they know how to dance or not, the fact that they dance to “Let It Go” while belting out the lyrics is incredible!
They are the best shopping buddies. My kids know they will be getting whatever kind of food items they want if dad comes. Cupcakes? Ya! Candy? Ya! More chips even though we have tons at home? Ya!
Setting a high bar for future boyfriends and for the son to aspire too as well. No pressure but I’m pretty sure dad is right on this one.
For teaching the kids what good music is. Now-a-days it’s all about the next boy band but If you hang with daddy you learn to love Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray. All better choices than One Direction!
Moms and Dads are protective. Dads take that to the next level by breaking out the shotgun when your prom date arrives to pick you up, showing you how to throat punch the boy who keeps bothering you and making sure the son is always the one to not start a fight but finish it!
The best thing of all is that Dads give mom a break when she needs it!
Just know, that Dad may not do what mom does and get up all through the night because you need another drink of water but if they hear a noise or their family is threatened they will be on that like the beer that’s in the fridge!
As my kids just told me last night- A father is not the same thing as a dad. Dads are always there for you.
You’re not just special because it’s Fathers Day. You are special because you are someones Dad!
