25 Days of Activities/Movies Part 2

We have been doing our 25 days of Christmas Movies and Activities and some days are hard to fit it all in. With Doctors appointments and swim meets, getting home at 7pm on a school night to try to fit a 2 hour movie in with a craft is almost impossible. But if you are looking for something to do or watch, this is what we did this past week.

We made pine cone wreaths and centerpieces. I didn’t have to purchase anything for this. We went outside and collected pine cones. I had glitter, glue and everything else and we just went at it. We later watched Charlie Brown Christmas. A movie we watch every year!

I found a recipe for Gingerbread slime. All the kids are wanting to make slime now a days. It’s super easy. You just make slime like normal. 1 cup of hot water and 1/2 cup of clear glue. We added 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1 tsp of ginger, 1 tbsp of gold glitter and 1/2 tsp of borax. It is the best smelling slime ever! After wards we watched Home Alone. Another movie we seem to watch every year.

We kept it simple. We made banana muffins together. Not really Christmasy but still something we did together as a family. And then we watched the Grinch!

We had doctors appointments in the next town over after the kids got out of school on Thursday so we didn’t end up watching movie. We ended up driving around the neighborhoods looking at all the lights and decorations! Which I failed to get photos of.

I found some free printable Christmas cards that you color online and printed them out. We spent time coloring our cards and filling them out so we can give them to neighbors. This night we had some friends over and we all watched The Polar Express.

The weekend was very busy. Levi had his first swim meet and we were at the Natatorium for at least 6 hours each day. But on Saturday we managed to make some Jingle Bell thingies. I put one on a door handle and our elf snagged the other one. We watched A Spongebob Christmas Movie, which I do not recommend. Very annoying.

We didn’t do a craft but we did watch the Elf’s Story. We have the Elf but we have never watched his movie. It was pretty cool. When we got home from our long day at the swim meet, the kids had received mail. On a Sunday! Letters from Santa arrived! I did not pay a company to do this, I did it myself on paper I already had and just printed a picture on an envelope. Delylah was in awe!

Everyone has busy schedules. With shopping, work, school, life. I have got to say, this is the first holiday season I don’t feel stressed. I am not in a hurry to be getting things done. I don’t care that my house isn’t all decked out on the inside and out. I’m not going over board on the gifts for my kids. We are spending quality time together each day doing an activity and watching a movie. Even when I can only fit one or the other in, we try to fit something in. It has been good for all of us.

What have you been doing to bring on the holiday spirit this year?
