How Many Places Can I Be In At Once???

Yesterday was a busy day with my regular routine, adding the washing of my car and dentist appointments. When we got home it was already 4pm and time for me to start dinner, help with homework and get things (the kids) washed up and ready for another day.

It doesn’t matter what I was doing, I couldn’t be in enough places at once.

I had 3 people talking to me at the same time while I am making dinner and getting the table ready.

Delylah wants me to play with her American Girl Doll Trailer instead of cook.

She also wants me to jump on the trampoline, chalk, fix her fairy garden, build a fort and listen intently to her stories about the kids at school. (They have cooties)

During that same time, Levi is trying to show me his progress on his game and telling me how cool his new something is.

Dad is telling me stuff from back home and about my roof.

After a few minutes of each person, they all know I can’t hear it all and start to get aggravated with me.

Delylah is asking if I am listening and why don’t I EVER help her?

Levi rolls his eyes and says “He’s done.”

Dad starts asking me questions about what he’s talking about, then realizing I missed all of it says he’ll tell me later.

Come on guys. I was trying! I was cooking and getting Delylahs American Girl stuff down stairs. I was outside fixing the fairy garden while I watched them jump on the trampoline. I saw what Levi showed me but it didn’t actually click because he showed me while me and dad were talking.

I don’t know how many places I can be in at once but it’s apparently not enough sometimes. Not everyone has it all together all the time! I’m just glad everyone got fed, washed up and I didn’t forget anyones medicine before bed!

Today is another day!

Oh, the places we’ll go!

ONE OF MY FAVORITE DAYS OF THE WEEK!

While I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, I am glad it’s Monday!

Our weekend consisted of Lego building, pillow making, a birthday party, kids coming over, yard work, spending money, tennis, bike riding, roller skating, video games, ping-pong, movies, cleaning house, Texas hold em, drinks and FUN! I’d say it was pretty jam-packed. We did eat a few times between all that stuff too. The kids had a great time with friends and with me and papa too and were good….for the most part. It wasn’t until yesterday when they were by themselves that we could hear them fighting upstairs. It made me laugh that I could hear them from outside.

Levi’s keeping his grades up with all B’s right now. I know in at least 2 of his classes he could have an A but it’s all about the effort he is willing to put forth. I am proud of the things he is over coming on his own at school and with friends.

Today we get to see the dentist (the kids do) for the first time since moving here. I finally got us a primary care doctor and got the kids a dentist. I still need to get Travis and I a dentist. I will look into that this week and make our appointments next! The kids are a little excited because they get to get out of school early and our last dentist office was amazing. I only hope this new pediatric dental office is half as awesome! Then they won’t mind going to the dentist so much. I am actually excited to find out what’s been going on in my kids mouths. I have been trying to make them be more independent with their hygiene and it’s either a good thing or not…. We will find out today!

I’m trying to talk everyone into camping this coming weekend. I’m hoping by Thursday I can get the adults all on board as well as our bank account and we can head out towards Austin Friday after school. We shall see.

For now, I am going to enjoy today!

The Calm Before The Stomping

Waking up to the sounds of silence on this brisk Friday morning.

Okay, not silence. I can hear the cat eating, the heater running and the sound of my fingers pressing against the keys to type. But there are no dogs barking. Loud cars flying by or kids stomping up and down the stairs.

There is a calm in the air. A calm that wasn’t there when I was woken up at 2am by my phone updating.

It is Friday though and I know this calm will soon be gone. Kids will be up in 10 minutes stomping loudly down the stairs. Breakfast and lunches need to be made. I will hear complaints of clothes because it’s cold today and they don’t want to bundle up. But, It’s Friday and all I can think about is sleeping in tomorrow!

The weekend should be relatively calm as well. My dad is here and we don’t really have plans. Delylah has a birthday party but Dad will stay behind watching Levi so we don’t have to torture Levi with roller skating and 7-year-old girls! I think deep down he might like it though.

Calm, quiet, relaxing weekend. Watching movies, playing games, riding bikes if it gets a little warmer. Sounds like the perfect weekend. We probably won’t stick to that plan but it’s an idea. I’d really like to hit the drive in with the kids! They have never been to one and it would be so fun!

My calm, quiet time collecting my thoughts is almost over. In one minute there will be an elephant (Levi) stomping down those stairs with a grumpy look on his face.

Enjoy your Friday My Friends!

How Could I Not Be Thankful?

There is so much to be thankful for in this world.

People want to complain about our new President. They want to complain about their life at home, their spouse, their job, money, the kids. Anything and everything that causes a hiccup in their daily lives gets written up as a complaint!

I can’t do that. There is just too much for me to be thankful for.

Yesterday, Levi and I finished his “project” for school. It was a pain and took hours each day. But it is done. It doesn’t look like I would have done it because he just doesn’t seem to care all that much but he stuck with it and me and got it done! I couldn’t ask for much more.

My dad is still here. Visiting with him is the best. I get to watch the kids (mostly Delylah) play with him after school and see them all smiling! It’s great to have him here!

We take Jack, our little Shorkie, to the groomers every so often. We found out through her that he has an allergy to grains and that’s why he was so stinky. The yeast was coming out in his tears and making his face super smelly. We would not have known. The vet said he just had a scratch on his eye and that’s why his eye leaked. I am so thankful the groomer was knowledgable and told us. Now Jack is on special dog food and hopefully stops being so smelly and having coughing fits.

Mister Postman. Yes he brings me my bills and copious amounts of junk mail. But he also mails my letters to my family and friends and is always willing to wait for me as I am running out of the house to mail another letter.

My kids have their own alarm clocks. I could get them up since I am up before them but dealing with the grumpiness in the morning is not my cup of tea. It took some time for them to get used to it but now they get up on their own and are less grumpy…sometimes.

I can see the positive side in any situation, even if it’s still not ideal. I would rather see the good in everything and everyone than focus on what makes a situation terrible. Like Texas. I’m here in Texas. Not making too many friends and not going anywhere most days. But I have my family with me and we spend a ton of time together now. That makes it worth it.

It’s hard not to be in love with life when you stop worrying about the BS. When you stop letting drama effect you. When you focus on the good that’s all around you. Sometimes my word vomit is hard to swallow but it’s worth the acid reflux!
