Parents In Vegas

Walking around Vegas you get to see all sorts of things happening. Every time I come here one thing that sticks out the most is parents with their kids. How they are interacting and what they are doing with their kids. Some of it is hilarious, while some of it is a “Why would you do that?” moment. Here’s some of what I have encountered this trip.

Parents making their kids sit or stand around the corner from the machines so they can gamble. Really!? Why would you do that? Just don’t bring them or don’t gamble.

Last night I saw a mom yelling at her kid for spilling her drink. She actually called him “stupid.” It was appalling and someone should slap her!

We were at the gift shop buying small 10$ souvenirs while the parents in front of me spent 500$ on souvenirs. I can not even fathom that even if I have the money. I almost choked!

When you’re walking around and there is a kid that looks to be at least 6 or older in a stroller with a pacifier. It makes you chuckle and wonder….”Why the hell would you do that?”

There was the cutest little girl riding in the elevator with us all dressed up. I saw the same girl and her parents on Fremont St stopped to talk to a hooker. That is parenting at it’s finest.

There are kids that scream everywhere but the ones that stick out are the ones that are using profanity while they are screaming! Those parents are winning!

At the buffet yesterday a parent sat with their kid and fell asleep. I guess since it’s Vegas you can sleep it off anywhere.

It is really funny when you take the kids to the arcade and the parents are having more fun than the kids and spending all the quarters! Not only are the kids embarrassed but they can’t seem to have any fun because the parents are having too much of it!

Even funnier, I typed “parents in vegas” into Google and mug shots pop up!

Then there are very few parents here like myself who are holding their kids hands everywhere they go, not stopping at machines or the bar. Not letting them run up and down the hallways. Not stopping to watch the peddlers/hookers doing their thing. Going out and doing kid stuff. The pool, Blue Man Group, The Aquarium. There is actually a ton to do for a kid here without being “That Parent.”

So Far….

It is crazy how excited my kids were to arrive in Las Vegas a couple of days ago! Delylah described it as “The best paradise of her life” and stated that she was moving here when she grows up. The innocence is real. They have both been to Vegas more than some adults. With my best friend living here we try to come at least once a year, if not more. It doesn’t always happen like that but we try.

We got in late so we didn’t do much the first night. But yesterday we took them to the Shark Reef (which they have both been to before but love) and they were so excited! I love that no matter how many times they have seen it or been somewhere they love going again and finding little things that they missed! I love our gem of a photo where Levi is giving me bunny ears!

Of course we stopped at the arcade in the Excalibur. One of the best ones here. It’s huge and there are games from when I was a kid too. It’s a lot of fun!

Then it was off to the “Pyramid” as Delylah kept calling it. The Luxor. She was excited to see mummys so she could protect us. Sadly, there are no mummys. She still had a blast opening and receiving her first real pearl! Even Levi was intrigued at how the oysters grow them as we took the time to listen and learn a little something new!

The day was filled with fun stuff for the kiddos. Their first cab ride along with their first tram ride and everything in between. By the afternoon they were tired and it was my turn to go have some fun with my best friend. The kids got to spend time with her kids, playing and having fun while her and I went and did a paint and sip session. It was a lot of fun and our paintings didn’t come out half bad!

Now to see what kind of trouble we can get into today!

Easter Tradition

Happy Easter!

For the past 4 or 5 years at least, I have been dying eggs with one of my best friends and then heading to my moms to celebrate the day. Of course we didn’t pass that up this year especially not knowing how much time we will still live here.

Every year the eggs come  out a little different and every year we have so much fun!

Now it’s time to pack up, head to see family and then off to Vegas to see my other best friend!

Happy Easter Everyone!

The First Day

Since the littles decided to get up at 5:15 and wake me up, I hope they are super excited when I do it to them tomorrow! Vengeance is and will be mine!

Happy Saturday!

I suppose they were preparing me for what the rest of spring break will be like. That’s just how much they love me. Delylah got to have a buddy over and spend the night. Great beginning to spring break for her. Or was it? Girls are crazy! I knew I’d have it rough when she was a teenager but she’s already so dramatic. I am not looking forward to the teenage years. Listening to 2 girls compete over everything and point out the silliest things to each other gets so annoying! Here is some of what was said during my day yesterday coming from either girl.

You weren’t invited so you can’t go.

I don’t want to play that.

Can we just go to bed? (Only they weren’t tired and drove me crazy!)

I’m better at picking up trash than you are. (this one made me laugh)

It’s ok, I can help you if you be nice.

(They bumped heads) She bumped my head on purpose because mine hurts more than hers!

I’m not sick I just have a cough.

That is disgusting! (after they ate half of it)

Delylah did teach her friend to ride her bike with no training wheels. She just learned last weekend from her friend. It was super cute but of course the girls had things to say to each other over the bikes as well…

The bike does whatever it wants. How come it doesn’t listen to me?

I can ride faster than you because I’m older than you.

Of course I let them talk their shit. They are only 6 and both dramatic little girls. They are friends that make each other cry but also have a ton of fun together.

Yay for the first day of spring break riding bikes, painting, movies, good food and arguing!
