Being happy and positive is hard on a daily basis. Especially in this crazy world that we live in. There are plenty of things you can do, very easily, that can help you attain happiness on a daily basis and change your negative into a positive.
SMILE – Research has actually shown that making yourself smile can make you feel happier. Smile at the stranger whose kids are completely intolerable or just anyone for that matter. Not only will it make you feel better, but it will make them feel better too.
HARDWIRE YOUR BRAIN – Savor your positive experiences. Whenever you experience something where you feel really happy, try to take 20 seconds to pause and really appreciate the moment you are in. Over time this will help you to build a neural network and help you to hardwire happiness into your brain!
THINK YOURSELF HAPPY – People who actively tried to be happier did show increases in their happiness. I know, I am one of them. If you want to be happier, at least you should try to make yourself think about being happy.
HAVE A POSITIVE MINDSET – If you catch yourself framing the experience in a negative way, just gently remind yourself that you want to experience more positive emotions and happiness in your life. It may sound ridiculous, but it does work!
MEDITATE – To be more precise: A loving kindness meditation is the way to go! You meditate and feel loving kindness and genuine warmth for yourself and also for other people in your life. Meditation increases your state of well-being.
FORGIVE – It can be hard to truly forgive others sometimes. But holding a grudge doesn’t do anyone any good. Forgiveness does make people feel happier.
SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS – It’s important to have a good set of friends in your life. This means people who will support you and also pick you up when you are having tough times in your life.
SPEND TIME IN NATURE – As humans, we need to spend time outside as mush as we possibly can. If you live in a city, it’s important to find time to go to a place you can be in nature. Find time to go for a walk or hike in nature. Breath in that fresh air!
LIMIT SOCIAL MEDIA – On social media it is so easy to compare yourselves to others which leads you to feel really bad about yourself. Don’t let that happen to you! Not just social media but all technology. It tends to take over our lives.
BUY EXPERIENCES – Use your money to buy experiences rather than material goods. This could be buying tickets to se your favorite band or to travel to a new place. Make the memories with your money!
FLOWER POWER – Peoples moods are always better if they have fresh flowers around.
KEEP A JOURNAL – It just takes a few minutes to think about what you are grateful for in your life and write them down.
SLEEP MORE – The amount of sleep people get correlates with the reported satisfaction in their lives. So, make sure you get good, quality sleep each night. Skip that last drink or episode on Netflix for a little extra shut-eye.
Most all of these things are easy and feasible in every persons life. Once you can be happy and more positive in your own life, it won’t matter what happens around you. You have learned a way to keep the daily Bull Shit from harming your happiness.
